Introduction to CGI Space Workshop (Feb. 18, 2026)

The Center for Genome Innovation is a core facility that supports researchers across all UConn campuses with DNA/RNA sequencing and sample processing. We also have historically provided access to lab space for researchers that do not have molecular lab tools in their own labs. Recently there has been an increase in people looking for this access so we are going to streamline the training and reservation process. We will have a 2 hour introduction to the lab space and general equipment workshop every other month. We will cover use of general molecular lab equipment (micropipettors, tube and plate centrifuges, thermocyclers, biosafety cabinents). Proper use of these basic tools is necessary for successful molecular experiments and to reduce incidents of damage to facility equipment. Participants that demonstrate correct use of these equipment by the end of the workshop will be allowed to schedule times to use these equipment in the future.

The next workshop will be Feb 18 from 12-2 PM in Engineering Sciences Building 309. This workshop will be required for all researchers who want to accessing CGI lab space and will cost $100/participant. Participants need to have taken general lab safety. Please come with an idea of what type of experiments you are interested in doing. The facility scientist leading the workshop will be available to discuss specific techniques and sample processing for each project.

To register for the workshop please email genomesupport@helpspotmail.com with your name, a KFS for the participant fee, and confirmation that you have taken general lab safety through UConn EHS.
